CHALLENGE
The two halves of the product must be held straight together before the end bolts are fastened. The customer was seeing a scrap rate of approximately 20,000 PPM (2%) due to the misalignment.
SOLUTION
A new fixture was designed incorporating pneumatic swing clamps to hold the parts in alignment.
RESULTS
The 8316 swing clamp was supplied off the shelf. The scrap rate was reduced by 98% to 400 PPM (0.04%).
