SWING CLAMP REDUCES SCRAP RATE

CHALLENGE

A supplier of a bracket/nut assembly was experiencing unacceptable production and scrap rates due to the instability of the bracket during the welding process.

SOLUTION

A model 8115 pneumatic swing clamp was installed on the fixture to securely clamp the center of the bracket while the nuts were being welded on the ends. The pneumatic swing clamp is an ideal clamp for welding or dirty environments because the piston rod retracts to clamp and is protected during the process.

RESULTS

The swing cylinder stabilized the bracket, which, in turn, reduced the scrap rate. Overall part set-up time was reduced and quality improved because of fast, consistent part clamping.
